History:

Ahiru was a girl who had been accustomed to a simple and uncomplicated life. She grew up on a small farm in the countryside, located on the outskirts of a small town in Germany. As an only child and muggle-born, she helped her parents maintain their small fields of crops and tend to the animals. Ahiru stood out in her family, both in appearance and personality. Her hair was flaming red and her eyes a bright blue completely unlike either of her parents, and their quiet and peaceful day to day life was sharply accented by her loud and awkward mannerisms. And yet, while she was a girl who held a striking and optimistic passion for life, she lacked the skill to succeed in even the simplest of tasks. Whether it were accidentally ruining a crop or absentmindedly letting one of the farm animals loose, Ahiru almost always had a way of screwing up. And to her own confusion, sometimes she couldn't explain how certain things happened. Was she really careless enough to leave the sheep pen open after she was sure she'd shut and locked it? Had the she really knocked over the bucket of water she'd set down behind her when she could have sworn she hadn't touched it? And although she couldn't always make sense of it, Ahiru had to accept that the occurrences were still her own fault. Such mistakes often discouraged her and yet also bore in her a desire to improve.

Ahiru's only experience with the word "magic" was through books. She read many on fairytales - stories of princes and white horses, castles and warlocks, adventure and romance. And she couldn't help but fantasize about them sometimes. Afterall, the repetitive nature of every passing day on the farm was severely dull in comparison. But Ahiru was forced to quell her own desires. She had known from early on in her life what was expected of her: It was into her hands that the responsibility of handling and taking care of the farm would one day fall to. And there was no knight in shining armor that would come to take her away from it.

Ahiru found herself with a curious affinity for birds and named many of her feathered friends that she visited on a regular basis by the small lake near her home. During one particularly clumsy stunt of attempting to balance on an unsteady tree limb overlooking the lake while saving a baby bird from falling from its nest, Ahiru had slipped just after the fragile creature was returned to safety and plunged down into the lake below. Unable to swim, she had nearly drowned, but the girl had a light of hope and a stubborn streak that wasn't easily snuffed out. She fought her way to the surface of the water and struggled until she reached for a low-hanging limb from the very tree she fell from. And it was then that something of a miracle had occurred. Hand outstretched, she could have sworn that somehow the branch had conveniently meandered to her waiting hand and allowed her to pull herself to safety.

Despite the inexplicable little things that happened infrequently in her life, Ahiru never dreamed that one day would change her life so drastically. She had just finished feeding the bird flock gathered outside her window when her father had called her into the kitchen that morning. The mixture of anger and confusion on his face and the worried expression her mother had sported had been unexpected. Usually her parents were very impassive and calm and now they were uncharacteristically pale and nervous. And before Ahiru could dwell any further on the tense atmosphere, her father had wordlessly stepped forward and handed her a letter. Surprised, since she had never received mail before, Ahiru eagerly read the parchment, and found herself completely stunned and confused beyond all reason at what the inked words had revealed.

Hogwarts? A school of magic? Accepted? ...Her?

As if seeking reassurance that it wasn't a dream, she had looked up at her parents, and their expressions spoke sufficiently in response to her silent question. If they were as frightened over such a letter as they appeared, it couldn't possibly be a joke. Her mother had spoken then, in a tired and softly determined tone, and told her to go. And at that very moment, her father had turned away and walked out of the room without another word.

Life at Hogwarts was amazing to the young redhead. Everything was new and different and each day brought more surprises. Ahiru found herself looking forward to everything, whether it were her classes, watching Quidditch matches, or even attending breakfast on a daily basis in the Great Hall. She was still as clumsy as she'd always been, made plenty of mistakes, blurted things out spontaneously and embarrassed herself, but just knowing that she had the potential to make something special of her life and choose her own path kept Ahiru striving to make the most of her wizardry schooling and compelled her to improve despite where she fell short. It was a rough road ahead, but Ahiru was more than willing to tread it to the very end.

hime_no_karasu - Ahiru recently met Rue and considers her to be kind, as well as distant and maybe a little lonely, somehow. She doesn't mind that Rue is a Slytherin, for she doesn't believe a House should merit how anyone is seen is treated, and now Ahiru has nick-named her "Rue-chan" and thinks of her as a friend. But now that Rue has been spending the summer at Ahiru's place along with the others, she's not entirely sure what to make of Rue anymore. She wants to believe Rue wouldn't intentionally hurt her or Mytho, but recent events have left her a little wary of the girl. And despite it all, she still wants to persist in being Rue's friend, regardless. And over the length of the summer, Ahiru hadn't really spent much time with Rue, but became steadily worried as Rue appeared to become more attached. Due to a recent happening with a love potion accident, Rue confiding in Ahiru about her feelings on the matter and in turn Ahiru mutually confiding in Rue about her own issue with Kyro just prior. Upon discovering that Rue was seeing - and very possibly being abused by Mytho's other personality, Ahiru's worry for Rue has reached a greater height. She has attempted to sway Rue away from Kyro's influence and has so far made no ground, as Rue insists on seeing Kyro no matter what he does to her.

magicalmophead - Ahiru greatly admired Mytho and developed a bit of a crush on him before her fourth year of school was over. That crush only increased as they talked and spent time together and to her surprise, Mytho returned her feelings and the two of them have begun to date. With a recent development where Ahiru witnessed Rue and Kyro (Mytho's other personality) kissing, she was startled and thought perhaps Mytho had changed his mind, but after Mytho clarified that it was a misunderstanding, she feels more comfortable with him and her feelings for him again - and believes she can trust him. Ahiru has now reached a problem stage with Mytho, one that has begun to gnaw at the edge of her conscience and worry her slightly - It was recently revealed to her that Mytho's "condition" was actually not an illness or something of the like (as she originally thought), but instead a case of a split personality sharing the same body. She's still not entirely sure what to make of it, but after talking with both Fakir and Rue, she's come to the conclusion that Mytho really does not trust her and she's quite hurt by that. She hopes in time they'll both be able to get past unfortunate incident of her and Kyro (Mytho's other side), but as things stand now, she's begun to doubt many things between them.

wizard_knight - At first, Ahiru did not like Fakir at all. She found him to be rude, bossy, over-bearing, and quite a bit of a jerk. But due to Mytho and Rue coming to stay with her for the summer, she was horrified to find that Fakir came along as well. It wasn't until late one night that Ahiru's opinion of Fakir began to change: He saved her life that night when she was drowning in the lake near the farm. However, the real full change of heart didn't come until she found herself stuck in his company (when he demanded to go along with her) on a long trip to town - through that fiasco, she discovered there was a lot more to Fakir than she thought and he was much nicer than he let on. ...She also found out that he was a bit of a pervert, but by far the nicer qualities shining through outweighed everything. And as the icing on the cake, another encounter between them instilled a new, awkward friendship between them. As the friendship and bond has begun to strengthen over many happenings between them (ranging from mutual comforting through difficult and personal issues to another rescue and a strange attraction Ahiru prefers not to identify), Ahiru fully trusts Fakir and considers him one of her closest friends. She has briefly considered that she might even like him to a point, but has hastily denied any such thing is possible.

liedohneworter - Ahiru isn't entirely sure what to make of Autor. She finds him to be a bit rude with his "all-knowing" speeches and the way he criticizes her actions and words, but she also gets the feeling that he seems sort of like Rue in the sense that he's "off" from everyone else and almost seems a bit lonely somehow. She persists in trying to be nice to him and hopes to learn more about the bespectacled bookworm. Over the course the summer, Ahiru has tried to befriend Autor more and really does believe him about the love potion ordeal he and Rue had gone through. She feels bad for them both, but is also slightly frustrated that Autor blames himself so completely for the incident.

germanwitch - Ahiru has known Pique since her first year at Hogwarts (they're one year apart) and she considers the Ravenclaw girl to be one of her best friends. Due to losing contact for awhile over the summer, Ahiru has a lot of catching up to do with Pique but is very happy that her friend is pursuing her love of dance further and hopes to see her in performances someday. During a surprise double-date between Mytho, Ahiru, Fakir, and Pique, the two of them did get to spend a little time together and although it was very awkward at some points, Ahiru had a lot of fun and was happy to see her friend again.

proudgreenauror - Gai is someone Ahiru really looks up to. His faultless determination and focus really make her want to strive to do better herself and have more confidence even when she believes she's falling short. She's very thankful for his optimistic view and is certain he will become a very great wizard someday, as she herself will try to do the same, despite her faults.

kaoru_deviltype - Kaoru is in the same year as Ahiru, and although she vaguely recalls taking a class or two with him in years past, it wasn't until the summer before 5th year that she started to talk with him regularly. She considers Kaoru a friend and is determined to get to know him better as the year goes on - she also greatly admires him for standing up to a Death Eater (as she has no idea the incident was actually heavily exaggerated) and is grateful that he warned her about dark wizards lurking in Diagon Alley.
